MANGO IS COMING TO THE UK!

    thank you…once again

We’ve hit the target…and shot over it

    £1300 raised

A new life for a small dog. The donations were going up nicely when we got blasted with a £750 donation from a pet lifestyle site called Petspyjamas in the UK taking us WELL OVER the target.

Mango can now fly business class!

Thank you to each and everyone one of you. Whatever your donation, big or small, you made this happen. I’m so incredibly touched. And a big  thank you to Petspyjamas, please take a look at their lovely site here, a totally unexpected donation.

The royal reaction has already been positive

    The Queen is reportedly delighted

    Costs covered

This money will now cover all of Mango’s medicals in Manila, the customs checks, her crate, the flights to London, the UK customs checks AND give Mango a lovely bed and toys in London.

Any left over, if there is some, will be given back to Network for Animals who are doing amazing work trying to rid the Philippines of the dog meat trade. We are currently investigating if it might even be viable for me to go out again to escort her back safely…

Mango is doing really well in Manila

Mango is doing really well in Manila but looking forward to a new life in Britain.

Here she is at her temporary residence with the mother of Network for Animals’ resident vet.

She’s put on some serious bulk in a few weeks (gulp – we may need to get her a bigger crate still – check out those paws), apparently she has really come out of her shell and she’s had her full medical done and will be microchipped shortly.

I’ll give you an update as to her health and expected return time soon. We expect it to take another few months

THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN. YOU’VE GIVEN THIS DOG A NEW LIFE.

    1. Great news! But actually the bit that really made me smile was that she’s coming out of her shell – how wonderful that she can actually be a puppy now! x

    3. P.S. How do A, M & B feel about you picking up strange women in the street…….?!

    4. Ha!!! Well the fact I thought at first it was a boy should put their mind at rest (or maybe not!!!)

    5. Woohoo, that’s Mango-tastic news!

    6. yay!!!

    7. Fantastic news!!! YAY for Mango!!! 🙂

    8. Brilliant news, so very happy. Kisses to Mango x

    9. Would it have been a good idea to bring 2 dogs back to the UK with the extra money?

    10. I will look into this but I’m pretty certain it won’t stretch that far. We’d need to go through the same quarantine process for another dog…but thanks for the suggestion

    11. Well done Martin. If we all do a little bit to bring about change, it will happen

    12. Brilliant news Martin! So happy for Mango!

    13. P.S.: I agree with Annette Gibson to bring in a second dog but I do understand the quarantine issue… Anyway, I am so happy for MANGO and I love the picture of Mango coming out of the Queen’s hat in your picture 🙂 I love your English wit and sense of humour. Please don’t ever lose it throughout the next half of your journey! I know it will be tough tough sometimes…

    14. thanks for understanding that sometimes I have to have a bit of humour! I take the animals welfare very seriously but I also want to be lighthearted when I can

    15. SO HAPPY WHEN THINGS LIKE THIS WORK OUT..MANGO IS ADORABLE AND I AM JUMPING FOR JOY BECAUSE YOU MET EACH OTHER!!!THANK YOU MARTIN FOR ALL YOU ARE DOING FOR MANGO AND ALL THE OTHERS WHO HAVE CROSSED YOUR PATHS THESE LAST MONTHS..
HEY I AM GOING TO VISIT CHAR IN MALAGA NEXT WEEK! GRIN WILL BE BRINGING BACK DOVER (the white galgo with the oranges) WOULD LOVE TO ORDER THAT PRINT…
      HUGS
      TELMA

    16. wonderful!!

I’m afraid the print of dover is part of the new series for the book and as such I will have to sell it as part of my normal artistic work (i.e. the stuff I sell through galleries). I can’t sell it as a quick print on my blog.

This means it will be limited edition and a fair amount more costly with only a number of images released – but also collectable.

If you are still interested do let me know but I’m afraid I can’t sell them as quick snaps

thanks again for all your help

      Martin

    17. I don’t understand why you are sending Mango back to the UK business class ? In fact I am shocked at this outrageous waste if money – why not send him back economy & donate the money to worthwhile causes. I don’t understand why the dog is coming back to the UK at all. By doing this you ate likely to be prevent a d

    18. – you are likely to be preventing a UK dog from being rehomed.

    19. hi sarah. I’m not actually sending the dog back business class at all, that was just a manner of speech. I meant that we’ve raised enough money to give him a new comfortable life and was just making a joke. I also would not say I am using up a space in the UK. I like to think that the awareness this has raised will make more people aware of the need to give rescue dogs a new home not less. But thank you for your comment, I appreciate you reading and writing in.
