• DAY 294: RELEASING WILD ANIMALS FROM JUNGLE MARKET GOES A LITTLE WRONG

    Jul 14th

After releasing a number of animals from a market in the middle of the jungle I’m wracked with guilt as to what happened to the poor turtle I put in the stream – or was it a tortoise??  I am such an idiot

Is this a lesson in how we should be more compassionate…or simply how good intentions can be a dangerous thing?

I once asked an expert for a very quick lesson in first aid in case I was in an emergency. He refused to give it to me on the basis that a little knowledge may be worse than no knowledge. It would be like arriving at a car crash with a box of sticking plaster and some string. Now I think I know what he meant…

    1. Dear Martin…my friend….after watching this video to the end…and your sensitive reaction to the possible error you made about the tortoise..my heart broke for you….

I too am very sensitive to the plight of animals in danger and being abused, and follow your blog entries closely….

Let’s HOPE this little chap made is back to shore after you left..your heart was in the right place….you have him his freedom for however long it might be or have been….for this I greatly applaud you !!

      God speed……

    2. thank you Valerie….some better news coming in the next blog. Thank you for your kind words.

    3. Oh Martin, Valerie has just found the right words in her post before me. You had a good intention. I still believe this little chap has made it!
You always seem to be too strong with yourself. You do so much for saving animals, it is much more than any other one would do – so you are right! This tortoise has all of your kind followers on its side and WILL MAKE IT!
      You rock!

    4. thank you as always Martina!!!

    5. Thanks Martin for continuing your mission. Your dedication is amazing. The tortoise looked pretty hardy in the video. I think it’s very very probable that it’s lived to tell the tale. Regardless – you are bringing attention to the issue of animals being traded in inhumane ways and facing extinction. Thank you for our continued courage!!!

    6. thank you so much for your support MeB!
