    1. Martin…listening to you…and looking at your eyes…well…all I can say is ‘tears’….yes….’tears’…

Well….my tears don’t help these animals…but…my life is enriched from following you and the experiences you have brought to us…

S-p-r-e-a-d-i-n-g….the word, is what it is all about for all of us…as there is power in numbers. Changing minds and habits is coming (certainly not fast enough…BUT….it is coming about…)

Love to you and your family, my friend….Valerie

You’re not alone with this. I understand how you feel (I think, although I’m not in your head!) and some of the things you’ve said and experienced have added fuel to my own thoughts. Y’know, when someone challenges me on why I don’t eat meat with arguments like ‘if we didn’t eat them there’d be no animals anyway’ and the one that drives me mad is ‘God gave us animals to eat.’ I get so mad at that point I can’t formulate a sentence and feel like giving up on trying to put forward my viewpoint. It does make me wonder why humans should think that they have the right to do this, if we are capable of rational thought why can’t we come up with something better? Killing to survive is different (as in the animal kingdom). Premeditation adds something horrible to the mix.

    3. martin,
thank you for the courage to take this journey. animal welfare *can* be overwhelming at times.(go ahead- scream and have a good cry!)
on emotionally taxing days i like to take a few minutes to visit with a sanctuary or the shelter. i find it can be healing for the aching soul.
i wish i could give proper credit to the author, but this is one of my favorite ‘stories’:

A young girl was walking along a beach upon which thousands of starfish had been washed up during a terrible storm. When she came to each starfish, she would pick it up, and throw it back into the ocean. People watched her with amusement.

She had been doing this for some time when a man approached her and said, “Little girl, why are you doing this? Look at this beach! You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!”

The girl seemed crushed, suddenly deflated. But after a few moments, she bent down, picked up another starfish, and hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied,

“Well, I made a difference to that one!”

      peace,
      amy

    4. Amy…indeed!! A nice story…

    5. How is the world can you go back to your old life now? Do you think it will be difficult, or will it be a relief? I’m sure this past year has changed you enormously.

    6. Hi Robin. This is a query I am grappling with and will discuss soon. A difficult thing…!

    7. Martin,
Today I have returned from my lovely sweepstake Holiday to Abu Dhabi. My boyfriend endured the heat while I was feeding 3 stray cats colonies during the last days of our visit.
I take a bow to all you have done so far.
I hope the cats enjoyed the food they received from me during the past days….

    8. Hi Martina, I hope you enjoyed the trip. I am sure the cats enjoyed you being there. Good for you!
